During the 4 days Gorillas plus Lake Kivu safari, you will trek mountain gorillas in Volcanoes national park as well as a visit to the fishing villages on Lake Kivu.
A detailed itinerary of the 4 days Gorillas plus Lake Kivu;
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
Our guide will pick you from your residence or Airport in Kigali, for a city tour. Among the places to visit are, the Genocide memorial site and the local market; have lunch and drive to Volcanoes National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at Kinigi guesthouse. (B.L.D)
Day 2: Gorilla trekking
After breakfast head to the park, headquarters to be briefed about the dos and don’ts while with the mountain gorillas. We will then hike into the forest. The terrain is rough and at times muddy and slippery especially during rainy seasons. The hike is physically demanding, but the beauty and scenery of the forest make the trekking worthwhile. Once you find the gorillas, all fatigue will leave, as this is the most profound experience in the world. Spend an hour observing and taking pictures. After the memorable adventure with the gorillas, you will have lunch and later visit the twin lake Bulera and Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight at Kinigi guesthouse. (B.L.D)
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu.
After breakfast, drive to Lake Kivu where there are some activities. One can either go swimming or hike and bike along the shores; have some water trips and cruises or Windsurfing and other water sports. Visit the Nyamirundi island where there is a lot of coffee growing and processing. After lunch take a visit to Imbabazi orphanage which takes care of the children orphaned by the terrible Rwandese genocide. Dinner and overnight at Paradise Malahide. (B.L.D)
Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali.
Transfer to Kigali after breakfast in time to catch your flight back home.
End of the 4 days Gorillas plus Lake Kivu.
