Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Akagera, Gorillas, Bisoke and Lake Kivu.
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera national park.
Early morning at 8:00 Am drive to Akagera national park. Arrive, have Lunch. In the afternoon enjoy a boat ride on Lake Ihema to see crocodiles and hippos. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge. (B.L.D)
Day 2: Game drive – transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Early after breakfast, with packed lunch, you will check out of your lodge take an early morning game drive as you exit the park. Spot giraffes, elephants, buffaloes and a variety of bird species. Afterwards, drive to Volcanoes National Park. Check in your lodge for dinner and overnight at Kinigi guesthouse (B.L.D)
Day 3: Gorilla trekking
Take your breakfast and head to the park headquarters to be briefed about the dos and don’t s while with the gorillas then proceed to trek mountain gorillas. On finding the gentle giants, you will spend an hour observing them and taking pictures. After the memorable adventure with the gorillas, you will have lunch and later visit the twin lake Bulera and Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight at Kinigi guesthouse (B.L.D)
Day 4: Hiking Mt.Bisoke 3711 Meters
Early breakfast at your lodge and head to Kinigi headquarters for a briefing. Hiking mount Bisoke takes one day and is a tough hike requiring good fitness. By 7:30 Am you set off in your cars and transfer to the head trail starting point of the hike. From here you get hiking sticks, and it’s necessary to hire a porter to carry your backpack. You will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the crater lake at the top of the volcano and visit Diane Fossey’s place depending on time. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Kinigi guesthouse (B.L.D)
Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu
After breakfast drive to Lake Kivu. Have lunch and then enjoy a relaxing boat ride or swim in this Bilharzia free lake and visit the fishing villages. Dinner and overnight stay at Paradise Malahide.(B.L.D)
Day 6: Transfer back to Kigali
In the morning after breakfast, you will begin your journey back to Kigali to catch your flight back home
