Detailed safari Itinerary: 8 Days Rwanda & Uganda Safari.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel
Upon your arrival at Kigali International airport, our guide from Twende Expeditions will meet and transfer you to your hotel for dinner and overnight at Five to Five hotel (B.B)
Day 2: Kigali City tour- transfer to Volcanoes national park
Morning breakfast and then tour Kigali city. Visit the genocide memorial museum, the local market at Kimisagara. After lunch, you will drive to Volcanoes national park. Check in the lodge and later visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, with a perfect view of the Virunga mountain ranges. Dinner and overnight at Kinigi guesthouse (B.L.D).
Day 3: Gorilla trekking.
After morning breakfast you will transfer to the briefing point for guidelines about the do’s and don’ts while with the mountain gorillas. After the briefing, you will be divided into groups and assigned a ranger. Rally behind your ranger as you trek through the volcanoes in search of the gentle giants. Spend an hour observing and taking pictures once you have found them. Return for lunch at the lodge. In the evening enjoy an experience of a lifetime as you visit the local people of Ibyiwacu cultural village. Interact with the locals as they showcase their traditions and beliefs. Dinner and overnight at Kinigi guesthouse (B.L.D).
Day 4: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi -Uganda
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and cross over to Lake Bunyonyi (Uganda). Lake Bunyonyi is the second deepest lake in Africa also known as a place of many birds. Check into your lodge afterward head out for a canoe ride to various Islands to visit the Batwa pygmies. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi overland resort (B.L.D).
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth.
After breakfast, check out your lodge and drive to Queen Elizabeth national park via Ishasha. While in Ishasha, look out for the tree climbing lions in the acacia trees overlooking the antelopes feeding in the plains. Check in your lodge and then embark on an evening game drive in the park to spot elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, and lions. Return to the lodge and overnight at Simba safari camp. (B.L.D)
Day 6: Game and Boat cruise.
After early morning breakfast, you will embark on a morning game drive. There are chances of spotting the nocturnal animals as they head back to their hidings. If lucky, you will spot lions, hyenas, and leopard. Return to the lodge for hot lunch. In the afternoon you will enjoy a boat cruise on Kazinga channel to spot crocodiles, hippos and aquatic bird species on the river banks. Dinner and overnight at Simba safari camp. (B.L.D)
Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Lake Mburo.
After breakfast drive to the briefing point at Kyambura Gorge for briefing while with the chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Rally behind the park ranger as you walk into the tropical forest in search of the habituated chimpanzees. You will spend an hour observing and taking pictures once you have found them. Later drive to Lake Mburo national park. Proceed for a boat cruise to see hippos, crocodiles and a variety of bird species. Take an evening game drive to spot giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and Impalas. Check in the lodge for dinner and overnight at Eagle’s Nest. (B.L.D)
Day 8: Safari on foot -Transfer to Entebbe.
Finally after breakfast, join an armed ranger for a walking safari to closely see zebras, buffaloes, elands, waterbucks and topis. Lake Mburo is the only park where one can enjoy a walking safari in Uganda. Drive back to Kampala, stopover at the equator to take pictures. Visit the craft market on Buganda road. Depending on your flight schedule our guide will drive you to the airport to catch your flight back home.
End of 8 Days Rwanda & Uganda Safari.
